12 Day Historical Sites And Greek Cruise

Visit the most important historical sites of Greece combining a short cruise to the Greek islands and the western coast of Turkey, Kusadasi (Ephesus). Your students will be enriched as they travel to see the Hellenistic and Roman civilizations.

This tour can be fully customized to meet your curriculum objectives.  Free chaperones can be priced according to the requested staff:student ratio.  The price quoted above is based on 35 students with 3 free chaperones.

Day 1: Departure

Meet at your local airport for departure/transfer for your overnight flight to Athens.  Connecting cities will depend upon your point of departure. 


Day 2: Athens Arrival
Upon your arrival at Athens International Airport our representative will meet and assist in your transfer to the Hotel in Athens.

Day 3: Athens city Tour

This morning we enjoy our half-day sightseeing tour of Athens. We climb up to the marble-capped Acropolis and visit the famous Parthenon and the Erechteum. Our tour continues with the highlights of modern Athens: we pass by the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament House, Panathenian Stadium, Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Academy, the University and the National Library. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel (B & D)



Day 4: Corinth Canal – Mycenae-Epidaurus-Tolo

Leave by the Coastal Road to the Corinth Canal (short stop) and continue on to visit Mycenae where you can see remains of the prehistoric citadel fortified with Cyclopean walls, the Lionesses' Gate, the Mycenaean Palace and the tomb of King Agamemnon. We will stop for lunch on your own at a local restaurant before we continue to Epidaurus famous for its well-preserved theatre. At the end of our tour we enjoy some free time in Nafplion before we drive to the Hotel Tolo in Tolon for dinner & overnight (B & D)


Day 5: Tolo-Tripolis-Olympia

We enjoy a drive through central Peloponnese to ancient Olympia which holds the stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 776 BC. Thereafter they were held every 4 years. In the afternoon visit the archaeological site and museum. Dinner & overnight stay at Hotel Europa in Olympia (B & D)


DAY 6: Olympia-Patras-Delphi

In the morning drive via Patras to Rion where we cross the new bridge to Antirrion, and continue driving through Nafpaktos to Delphi. Visit to the archaeological site of Delphi where the priestess Pythia pronounced her famous oracles in the Temple of Apollo and also the Museum. Dinner & overnight stay in Delphi (B & D)


Day 7: Delphi-Kalambaka - Meteora

In the morning we drive to Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. In the afternoon we will drive up and visit a Monastery in Meteora, perched on top of huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air.  Return to the hotel in Kalambaka for dinner and overnight (B & D)


Day 8: Meteora - Athens

Enjoy the morning at leisure before returning to Athens via Trikala, Lamia & Thermopylae (short stop to visit Leonidas monument) Upon arriving to Athens check in to the hotel. Dinner & overnight in Athens


Day 9 Athens-Piraeus-3/Day Cruise -Mykonos

In the morning transfer to the port of Piraeus for the 3-day Cruise to the Greek Isles and Turkey. We embark and sail for Mykonos. At 6:00 p.m., we call at Mykonos, an island which combines an international jet-set atmosphere with a very active night-life. Stroll at leisure through the white-washed, flower-decked alleyways to the sculptured church of Paraportiani or along the water-front of "Little Venice" to the well-known windmills. Return to the ship and at 10:00 p.m. sail for Rhodes



Day 10: Rhodes

At 9:30 a.m. we arrive at Rhodes. Our optional half-day excursion takes us to visit the Temple of Athena on the majestic rocky Acropolis of Lindos, with the blue Aegean Sea beneath it and the sophisticated, white-washed artists' colony at its foot, enjoy some free time in Lindos  before continuing to Mount Smith to see the ruins of ancient Rhodes, the Temple of Apollo and Diagoras Stadium. Your tour ends with a guided walk through the medieval city of Rhodes. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure strolling through the streets of the medieval walled city; enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere from one of the elegant cafes in the marina. Sail for Patmos at 6:00 p.m.


Day 11: Patmos-Kusadasi (Ephesus )

At 6:30 a.m. we arrive at Patmos, this beautiful and almost mysterious rocky island where the apostle John was exiled and wrote the Book of Revelation. We have an optional tour: we drive up to the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Revelation. After some free time for browsing, return to the ship and sail for Kusadasi at 10:00 a.m. 

At 14:00 we arrive at Kusadasi Turkey, starting point for our optional excursion to the ancient city of Ephesus, to visit the spectacular ruins where excavations still continue in this once great and important city, which was founded in the 10th century BC. Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Theater.  The Temple of Diana of the Ephesians, another of the seven wonders of the ancient world, was built in this city. We return to Kusadasi for souvenir shopping before sailing for Piraeus, Greece at 6:30 p.m.


Upon our morning arrival we transfer to Athens International airport for our departure flight
