Day 1: Sydney to Barrington Tops
Escaping the city we travel to the scenic wine region of the Hunter Valley for a wine tasting at McGuigans Winery, then journey on to Barrington Tops NP for an optional two hour white water kayak or night raft (seasonal) down the beautiful Barrington River (at own expense). Overnight at Barrington Tops

Day 2: Barrington Tops to Cattle station
Explore the area with a two hour morning interpretive walk.We then head to Tamworth the country music capital of Australia for lunch. This afternoon ‘settle into the saddle’ on a three hour horse ride with an option to ‘horse surf’, swimming with the horses (at own expense). You may prefer to simply relax with a beer in a real Australian country pub. Overnight Bingara. (B)

Day 3: Cattle station to Byron Bay
Leaving the NSW inland country we drive past sheep and cattle stations and stop at Myall Creek; the site of an Aboriginal Reconciliation site on our way to Bald Rock National Park for a two to three hour hike. Take a break and enjoy the scenic coastal valleys as we continue on to Byron Bay. Overnight Byron Bay (B))

Day 4: Byron bay
A FREE DAY to soak up the Byron Bay atmosphere! Ask your guide for information on what to do in this iconic beachside township. Overnight accommodation included (meals at own expense).

Day 5: Brisbane
We head inland to spend time in Nimbin; a picturesque, alternative village with a colourful ‘hippy’ past! Check out the museum and watch the minidocumentary

“Nearly Normal Nimbin” to get an insight into this ‘weird’ little town. Next we travel to the Gold Coast Hinterland, exploring Springbrook NP’s Purlingbrook Falls on a two hour walk. Returning to the ‘coast’ we travel through Surfers Paradise and the famous 40km stretch of golden beaches known as the Gold Coast enroute to Brisbane. Overnight Brisbane

Day 6: Hervey Bay/Fraser Island
This morning we travel through Mooloolaba, take a short break in the resort township of Noosa Heads before arriving at Rainbow Beach; a vibrant young town, with a relaxed atmosphere. Here we learn how to make and play the famous Australian ‘didgeridoo’ and hike to Carlo Sandblow to explore the beautiful coloured sands before travelling on to Hervey Bay. Overnight Hervey Bay (B)

Day 7:
Fraser Island - 4WD tour

Days 7 & 8
2 day tour to Fraser Island;
Spend the next day exploring Fraser Island on a ranger guided 4WD safari. Visit Lakes McKenzie and Wabby, Indian Head
and Champagne Pools. Return to Hervey Bay for overnight stay.

Day 8: Kroombit Cattle station
We travel through ‘sugar cane’ country this morning, passing through Bundaberg and on to the tiny coastal township of ‘1770’ (the year of Captain Cook’s first arrival). This afternoon we ‘Scooter-roo” – a two hour tour searching for kangaroos and other wildlife on motorized scooters, and then it’s on to Kroombit Cattle Station. Here we experience genuine outback living with a whip cracking demonstration, the chance to ride a mechanical bull, take a guided sunset walk to view the property and taste a traditional camp oven dinner whilst learning about life on a Queensland cattle station. Day 9: Airlie Beach
Travelling through ‘beef country’ we head to the small sugar township of Sarina where we try our hand at ‘barefoot bowling’; lawn bowls Aussie style. Following the coast we arrive at the “Gateway to the Whitsunday’s”, beautiful Airlie Beach. Overnight Airlie Beach (B)

Day 10: 2 day Whitsunday's sailing
A Maxi yacht is 75 feet of ‘racing machine’, worth millions of dollars, is very powerful and offers an experience of a lifetime that is only available in the

Whitsunday’s! You will have the opportunity to take the wheel, hoist the sails and grind the winches whilst exploring the most idyllic Whitsunday Islands. Maxis are fitted with bathrooms, bunks and galley.

After a day of sailing Return to Airlie Beach  for overnight accommodation

Day 12: Magnetic island
We make our way to Townsville for the 45 minute, 8km ferry ride to Magnetic Island. More than two thirds of the Island is protected National Park with an abundance of wildlife. We spend the day exploring, hiking some of the 25km of walking trails, swimming and also take a 11/2 hour guided interpretive walk, searching for Koalas.  Overnight Magnetic Island

Day 13: Mission Beach
We’re up early to sea kayak and snorkel in the stunning Marine Park waters (all equipment provided, including ‘stinger’ suits in summer) before heading to Mission Beach. In the afternoon we take an interpretive wildlife walk in search of the elusive Cassowary, a tall prehistoric bird (up to 2m high) that roams the tropical rainforest. Overnight Mission Beach (B)

Day 14: Cairns via The Table Lands
Departing Mission Beach we head to the Johnstone River Crocodile Farm (at own expense) to visit the 3,500 residents, varying in size from 30cm to 5m. Then see spectacular Millaa Millaa Falls, ‘cool off’ at the volcanic crater, Lake Eacham and go searching for the saw shelled turtle. Our next stop is the AJ Hackett Bungy site, where you can experience a Bungy Jump or Minjin
Swing (at own expense) finishing the tour on a high! (B)
